Private Jet to Ibiza: The Summer Season Guide

22 May 2026·6 min read

Ibiza Airport (IBZ) handles over 9 million passengers per summer season — the vast majority arriving on commercial charter aircraft. Layered on top of this are the private jets: the Gulfstreams from Geneva and London, the Falcons from Paris and Milan, the Challengers from Riyadh and Abu Dhabi. Between late June and mid-September, Ibiza's private aviation infrastructure operates at or near capacity, and the gap between a well-organised arrival and a chaotic one is entirely a function of advance planning.

Ibiza Airport: Private Aviation Infrastructure

Ibiza Airport has a dedicated private aviation terminal operated by Ibiza Aviation — a full-service FBO providing lounge access, customs and immigration processing, ground handling, and catering coordination. The terminal is physically separated from the commercial airport building, allowing clients to complete arrival formalities in a private environment without exposure to commercial passenger flows. During peak summer, FFGR books handling slots at Ibiza Aviation in advance to guarantee ground service on arrival.

Parking constraints at IBZ during peak season are real. The private apron has limited capacity, and during major event weekends — the DC10 closing party in late September, for example, or the opening weekend in June — the FBO may require aircraft to position away from Ibiza after drop-off and return for collection. FFGR coordinates with Ibiza Aviation and alternative parking at mainland Spain airports (Alicante, Valencia) for programmes where the aircraft must remain accessible within 2 hours.

Transfer to the Villa or Hotel

The transfer from Ibiza Airport to the principal villas — Es Cubells, Sant Joan, Santa Eulalia — varies between 15 and 45 minutes depending on location and traffic. During the height of summer, traffic on the Ibiza–Sant Antoni road can add 20–30 minutes to any transfer. FFGR coordinates ground transport through island-specific operators with knowledge of the villa geography and alternative routing. For clients arriving at the airport, the transfer vehicle meets at the FBO exit — there is no public taxi queue or shared transfer involved.

For clients whose villa or yacht is not accessible by conventional road — the properties along the Es Vedrà coast and certain northern headland positions — FFGR can coordinate water taxi transfers from the marina at Ibiza Town, a 10-minute drive from the airport. This combines aviation and maritime logistics into a single managed arrival sequence.

Peak Weekend Availability: Booking in Advance

The most congested arrival windows in Ibiza's summer calendar are Thursday evenings (arriving for the weekend) and Friday mornings. Between late June and late August, FFGR receives more requests for these windows than available aircraft can satisfy. Clients who attempt to charter a flight to Ibiza on a Thursday morning for that evening will often find the mid-range aircraft — Challenger 350, Falcon 2000 — fully booked. The solution is either earlier booking (8–12 weeks in advance for peak summer) or flexibility on aircraft type and departure time.

An alternative favoured by experienced summer travellers is an early-week arrival — Tuesday or Wednesday — which avoids the peak congestion, provides better aircraft and FBO availability, and allows several days of island establishment before the social intensity of the weekend. FFGR consistently recommends this approach for clients whose itinerary includes a full week on the island.

The Ibiza Season Calendar: Major Event Windows

Ibiza's private aviation demand peaks around specific dates in the summer calendar. The opening of the major club nights in late May and June generates the first significant surge. The Pacha and Ushuaïa opening parties in late May draw significant European private jet traffic. The July and August core season generates sustained demand, with the DC10 and Hi Ibiza residencies anchoring the social calendar. The closing parties in late September — which have become as significant as the openings — generate a final spike before the island quietens.

Beyond the club calendar, the Ibiza sailing calendar — the Ibiza Sailing Week in May and the IRC Mediterranean Maxi Yacht Race in June — generates a distinct client segment: yacht owners and their guests, transiting between their Mediterranean base and the island for events. FFGR manages a number of these combined aviation-and-maritime programmes, coordinating arrival timing with yacht positioning for clients who are joining or leaving their vessel at the island marina.

Extending the Ibiza Circuit: Formentera and Mallorca

Ibiza rarely exists in isolation for UHNW clients. Formentera — accessible only by boat from the Ibiza marina, 30–45 minutes by fast ferry or 12–15 minutes by private boat — is frequently combined with an Ibiza arrival. FFGR's island circuit programmes position the aircraft at IBZ, with client transfers to Formentera by private water taxi for day visits or overnight stays. There is no airport on Formentera, making this coordination essential rather than optional.

Mallorca extends the Balearic circuit for clients whose itinerary spans 7–10 days. Son Sant Joan Airport (PMI) is one of Europe's busiest airports but has solid private aviation infrastructure at its dedicated business terminal. The 35-minute flight between Ibiza and Palma makes an interisland hop entirely practical. FFGR manages multi-island Balearic programmes as a single coordinated itinerary, with the aircraft repositioning as needed between the three main islands.
